Croatia, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria

Has anyone been to any of these places and where would you recommend in August - preferably in Croatia - for sun, and a bit of nightlife, cafes and shopping in the evening.

There is no such place as Yugoslavia. I can highly recommend Slovenia. Croatia is very nice also, a lot more touristy than Slovenia.

What part of Croatia would you recommend -- and what happened to Yugoslavia ?? I'm sure it used to be there.

We've just come back from Sunny Beach in Bulgaria, and I can't recommend it highly enough. It was roasting, the people were SO friendly, and the nightlife was as good as any resort. It's really cheap as well because it's not part of the EU yet.

missmoore, would you mind telling me where you stayed? I have been spending days looking of reviews for hotels and self catering, only to be disappointed and am now on the point of giving up ! Can you recommend any other resorts nearby in case Sunny Beach is full ?

Split in Croatia has all the stuff you mentioned
I spent a couple of nights there on R+R before coming home from Bosnia in 94-95 had a wonderful time and the locals are friendly

Croatia very nice but getting a bit expensive now. Dalmation coast part of croatia will have everything you need, and the people in this region are fantastic

sorry sorry! have just found your question! we stayed in the hotel diamond, which was pretty eighties and cheesy but did the job. it was four star, but be warned that they don't have the same star rating system as the uk. we got a deal from �210 for a week from gatwick on lastminute.com

we had a friend who also stayed in golden sands and from her it seemed that it was pretty much the same as sunny beach.
