very true debs - I'll just leave a thick layer on her!!
I have to put sunblock on the tips of my cats ears ~ the vet told me to do it as Sonny (a ginger & white DSH) has some white on his ears.
Sunblock is recommended for animals Pink - especially light coloured ones and ones with very thin fur. It has long been good practice in the countryside to put sunblock on pigs as there backs burn (no jokes about crispy bacon - they all been heard before lol) annnd I've seen horses with hats on. But the coolest by far was the dog I saw with sunglasses on - which he genuinely had to wear as he had an eye condition - his owner had found a childs pair that fitted and attached elastic and he looked soooo cool especially as she tied a red spotted bandana round his neck to complete his 'look'!
i,ve always wanted to do that to my labs, but never had the bottle. they'd look mint!
Stevie - I love bandanas on dogs I live in the New Forest and lots of local dogs have them it's kind of dog chic without being hollywood. And they look soooo cool!
Yes you should especially if it has white bit on the thinner furred areas such as ears. My aunts cat had to have its ears removed (seriously) because he got skin cancer caused by his ears constantly getting burnt. Poor thing looks like a right freak now.
I lost both my cats to skin cancer. They both had white on their ears and it started to shrivel. First they had the tips removed but it wouldn't heal up so further surgery was needed. Unfortunately it didn't cure them . So putting sun tan lotion on animals is not as funny as you would think. Wish I had put it on my cats ears.
I lost a cat due to a sunburn melanoma. It comes as a scab that wont heal. My cat had to have the top of his ear removed then it spread to his neck his nose his glands. I couldnt save him so put sunscreen on all the white furry tips. Noses and ears. So for the person who thinks its funny, THINK AGAIN.
