Bin Or Trash In Gmail

First off am I correct in assuming that gmail 'bin' doesn't self empty like the 'spam' folder (as I have 145 items in there)? Why is there an 'imap trash' folder there as well (it's empty)?
My settings are set to English UK.

The standard bin does self empty after 30 days.

Cheers Ellipsis. I've never noticed if had been emptying the bin, just the spam. Now I know. Thanks again.
