Can Any Of You Clever Techie People Explain This Please?

I had a number on my phone for a friend of mine, listed as "Fred Home". Not his real name. He changed to a new number, so I deleted his old one, then added the new one. The problem is with the voice activation on my car. I tell it to "call Fred Home" and it dials his old number, even though I've deleted it. I have a contract with Tesco and asked them about it. A member of staff went into the contacts list and call history, and deleted all calls and the old number. They did this twice, because it happened after they'd "deleted" it the first time. However, when I tell the voice activation to "call Fred Home", it's still dialling the old number, in spite of all the deletions. I'm baffled. Any ideas anyone? TIA.
