What Would Be This

I was driving down the road and saw an old lady linking to another girl.

The old lady was bent over a bit but was very distressing to me - her left arm was right up her back.

Have never seen this before.

I recall an elderly Lady near here years ago that walked with a pronounced stoop and one arm up her back, I wondered if she did it to steady herself.

the thing is like her arm just wasn't behind her back it was right up her back. Looked so uncomfortable - poor thing.

There are some elderly people who walk with one arm across their back. And maybe this is what you saw and the lady was just chatting to the young girl.
Or the young girl was threatening the old lady.

Was the other person holding the old lady's arm up her back jj?

Maybe the old lady had fallen and hurt her back? Then she put her arm up onto her back where it was hurting and then linked the young girl for support.

I read it that the girl and lady were linking arms (lady's right side) - the lady's left arm was behind and up her back.

I would have stopped and asked if everything was ok, and if not offer them a lift but thats just me.

If you stopped every time you saw a stooped or elderly person on the pavement (accompanied or not) near me, you'd not get very far - there are OAP sheltered bungalows across the road.
