Went for a prebooked MRI Scan this afternoon, got there on time, was actually called in early,
then they refused to do the scan because they could not confirm what type of replacement Aortic Valve I was given in '09. Apparently one type is not MRI compatable.
I know I do not have that type but my word was not good enough. They even rang St Thomas's but being Saturday could not get the info.
'elf and safety innit guv.
The scan was to be done on my knees, now rebooked for 10 days time and I've got to provide written proof.

I am an NHS Professional, the people we saw today were all NHS, no Contractors.

At least it wasn't too far Baldric. I have to get up to Liverpool in the depths of winter, usually late afternoon appointments. It would be a real pain if my journey was binned. That is why I asked earlier.

30 mile(ish) round trip, no big deal, Tash does it 5 days a week, surprised she came with me, but grateful.
And this is why we need a global medical record that computerised. When my husband was ill, he had multiple problems. I kept in his hospital admission bag a paper record of what was wrong with him, what had been done about it, where, when and who by, plus his most recent blood results and anything else that seemed relevant. I also made sure that I had a copy safe at home and one on my handbag that went into hospital with me when I visited. I should not have had to do the NHS's job for them.

Mrs B. is very good at sorting her own records. I'm not quite so disciplined, maybe I should take more notice.
"She who must be obeyed" insists on accompanying me Baldric. I object(as you do) and insist that I can do it on my own, but am always glad to have her with me. No matter who, or what, you are it is a little disconcerting to have the procedure.

Tash is not Mrs B. she is a family friend, and very close, pleased to have her company though.
Woof has it...….. We all need to take responsibility for our own history. Again I don't, but "the boss" does. She has all our medical and dental records sorted as clear as she does the 2 cars service and legal requirements. Weird or what (^_*)

I have letters covering previous appointments, just didn't think I'd need them for a MRI on knees, live and learn.
yes but we shouldn't have to....
a hospital recently wanted to run some test on me, I forget what for the moment, and I pointed out they'd alrready done it in 2002. They had no record of it at all (they even searched the basement where they keep the stuff written in reed pens on papyrus.)

No good complaining; if they haven't got it, they haven't got it, and I'd just as soon they didn't guess.

I keep all medical records I get, but that's hardly anything, though hospitals are more thorough in giving you copies.
I wouldn't have thought so either Baldric. But I suppose they do whizz your whole body through( they always do me). Just a bit of a puzzle as to why they ask the "question" this time, but not the last time hey?
maybe because last time it was different staff and records were accessible so they knew the answer
Did you not get a checklist with the appointment letter asking you to contact them if particular circumstances applied?

Ok - I think I have been fortunate

I seriously think the problem is down to a weekend appointment and a lack of communication, I can live with that.
I had a Saturday appointment once and, despite almost being late as a result of football traffic I was taken in time - but it was an emergency
