Salesmen and their tricks
4 Answers
After watching the horrendous salesmens trick on the last watchdog programme (Instamatic beds) could we get a few tricks exposed on this thread. One silly trick played by any salesman who comes to measure your house for carpets/vinyl/laminate is to draw on a piece of paper (usually a waste paper) the shape of the room. So what is essentially a square room with a fireplace is drawn. In the kitchen he will draw all the angles. It is all done for show. He does not deduct/make allowances for the shape of the room when ordering carpets/laminates. He just measures the length and breadth and adds 2 metres on top. The malarkey of drawing shapes is just to show that he is doing some serious work. looks better than just measuring and quoting.
