Ok, so they left us in the blazing sunshine for 3 hours until they finally decided to grace us with their presence, but the wait was worth it. I couldn't sleep for months before the gig, and was having kittens the week beforehand (I was 17 at the time, not 12, as I appear to be making myself sound) and suffered the heat and the crowds for the whole day to be 3 rows from the front for when they finally came on. It's sad, but now I wouldn't even go if I got a free ticket. Too much time has passed, music has changed, tastes have changed, and Axl has indeed lost - respect, talent and the plot. The man should have a bit more humility, and show some respect to the punters who paid to see him live. No storming off, no cancelled gigs, no tantrums. He's starting over again, and it's about time he remembered that.
I'm interested to hear how the other gigs go. A friend of mine is seeing them in Glasgow on Friday night, so I will post her comments on Monday.

thanx soozmac.like i say , it was a good show but axle just didnt seem bothered , didn't even say good evening sheffield or owt like that. no interaction with the audience between songs, didnt seem to know what they were gunna do next sometimes, and i have since heard that it was the shortest set theyve ever done. he only came to life when izzy made a guest appearence and seb bach came on with them. never mind ok for nowt i supose. roll on iron maiden in december.
well, I spoke to my friend about the gig. Apparently, although it had been advertised as "an early gig", they didn't come on till 10pm! A half hour rendition (yes, 30 mins!) of November Rain brought boos from the audience, who were told by Axl "If you don't like it, f**K off." And many of them did, by all accounts. Signs went up around the SECC saying that they did not take any responsibility for missed transport connections. My friends had to leave at midnight, in order to get home, and the band was still playing. Apparently the older tunes went down a storm, but he's too far up his own backside to know what the audience wants....
