Need help to remove something
7 Answers
I have a problem with my PC. Every time I boot it up, my 'Favourites' folder contains a series of short-cuts, which are for offensive websites. I delete them, but then, when I next re-boot, they're back again. I suspect that there is some sort of software program that has attached itself to my PC and is causing these items to keep re-appearing, but how can I find this program or stop it working?

get 'sweeper' by emery, freeware http://www.bmesite.com/
this can clean your index.dat plus many other stuff, cookies etc It may not cure your problem but it gives your pc a good clean. this freeware is safe i use it every day.
Second, if you got XP, press Ctrl-Alt-Delete and click on 'processes'; print a list or type into notepad go to http://www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/task
list.htm where you can find rogue processes running on your pc. That should solve your problem. ELSE; run regedit and 'export all' to My Documents just in case u crash your system you can import your registry back to how it was. While running Regedit, choose 'Find' and search for a likely Key word e.g. 'sex' or whatever you can think of; hopefully you will find the fiend and delete the offensive 'keys' from your registry.

I chanced upon this site yesterday Spellmonster and found it to be a very useful online diagnostic tool -

If the links on here don't sort out your problem then perhaps check out the following pages, which list and link to some very useful 'malware' utilities - all programs I used during my most recent (very suvvessful) trojan-busting session - http://www.lurkhere.com/~nicefiles/

Good luck!

Sorry about that last post (and the ID - oops!), which should have read:
