Been away with friends for a few days up north, internet not clever, but have had to come home with stinking cold, due to go to Northumberland on Friday, so dosed up, feeling rotten...hopefully 5 days will see me better by then xx
If you move around to different places you get exposed to that areas strain of virus. If you haven't met it before chances are you will catch it. I always have a cold after I have been away.
Hello Minty, poor you, but I'm sure you'll feel a lot better by Friday. We love Northumberland, whereabouts are you going? Beautiful beaches.
Re: reorganisation mentioned by Jackdaw - the East Riding of Yorkshire finally escaped the hated 'East Yorkshire' a few years ago - except for the dratted Post Office. There is still discontent in Todmorden, which became part of Lancashire, and a movement to return to Yorkshire. We'd like the Forest of Bowland back, too, by the way.
If you want beautiful, unspoilt beaches, my choice would be Bamburgh. You have the beach virtually to yourself. Should you want something more 'seasidey' Seahouses is just a few miles down the road. No beach to speak of but amusement arcades, chippies and boat trips to the Farne Islands. Most local bus trips (charabancs?) take in both places.
Minty - you are very susceptible to colds. The first sniffle I have - I immediately take two lemsips with a teaspoonful of boiling water - have it like syrupy - and I usually am fine next day. Hope you feel find for Friday tho.
Sqad is that booked up to see Minty, evidently. It's that neti.....
Chillingham sounds ominous....stay clear of the Kelder Forest and all those midges. The Potted Lobster or Mizen Head Inn, Bamburgh, for some good seafood, minus midgies.....
