I’d be astounded if a charge of ‘treason’ could be made to stick against any of these people. It’s certainly an issue but scrabbling around raking up old laws and trying them for size because nothing else fits is probably doomed to failure - here and in other cases
ichkeria, not so old. It’s included under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998. That said, I too would be surprised if, knowing our justice system, it could be made to stick - but it ought to. These people sure as hell aren't our friends!
Well, the authorities have me convinced they don't care.
Just look at the bull crap regarding the latest basket case in Toronto.
Was that me got zapped? Can't remember.
because you have been zapped so many times
you have zapper's brain or something

I think it was during your zapitation - another go of
"I know I will kill a kid! and go straight to Heaven!"
ZZZZZZZZZ it hurts!
AB's finest legal mind (apologies to Barmaid and New Judge) has given the reasons why returning jihadis cannot, or perhaps should not be prosecuted. Summed up (rather well, I thought) by Ichkeria's "scrabbling around raking up old laws and trying them for size because nothing else fits is probably doomed to failure".

Perhaps, then, Peter Pedant will suggest what new legislation might be effective in protecting the Queen's Peace.

I'm assuming, of course, that PP accepts that the Queen's Peace is threatened by returning jihadis, the 25,000 "extremists" known to the security services and sharia-promoting Deobandi clerics, some "refugees" and so on. Maybe he doesn't.

I'm assuming, too, that the maintenance of he Queen's Peace is still a concern of the Law. But maybe that concern has been subordinated to - or even replaced by - other concerns like maintaining social cohesion. Who knows, eh?
some diversity is better than others, islam being a case in point, jihad
against those who thwart islam or curtail them...contentious
What is the rest of Europe and the United states stance on returning Jihadis?
Hand wringing is good for the circulation.
Another thing is all returning jihadis will obviously need 24 hr surveillance by mi5/6 which I’m guessing isn’t cheap. Where does that money come from? Also isn’t it common sense for when they knew the British were going to become terrorists to pass a new law to say anyone leaving to become a terrorist will not be allowed back in the country? That would’ve put a fair few off leaving surely?
And just to remove any loopholes, obscurities, and objections …..

//Ancient treason laws should be updated to prosecute British jihadists, say MPs and ex-top judge//

Let’s hope they do it.
How many of these returning Jihadis are actually British, which they would need to be for the offence of treason to apply.
If they're not British, keep them out.
Agreed Naomi
