I walked down to the local chippy a little while back in just my shirtsleeves. (Before anyone asks, I was wearing trousers as well!). It felt very pleasant, with a nice refreshing breeze and certainly not cold. It seemed a shame to come back inside.
Chips on a Sunday, 'Chico?

Isn't there something in the Bible about that? :-)
I had chips too...with curry sauce. To hot to be cooking.
I am SO pleased to see AND feel the temps drop. Not only because for three days we have had 32 deg C in the house and unable to cool it.... But because of the humidity outside. Also has anyone thought of crops...of our food growing.... And of course reservoirs filling up to give us water? Always on my mind in drought conditions.... Just wish more would conserve water and think wisely about use of everything in what could turn out to be potential desperate times.

Oh! It's probably only me.... Carry on as usual those who want the high temps and no rain back..wouldn't surprise me you would be the first people at the standpipes in the street.....lol
Me too!!!! Xcx

There used to be a bye-law in Sheffield (and there possibly still is) prohibiting the sale of fish and chips on a Sunday. The Chinese chippies got fed up of having to explain to their customers that it was 'Chinese meals only' on a Sunday evening (and we students got fed up of having to bu expensive Chinese takeaways, rather than "chips and fish" as they say in Sheffield).

Our local chippie (or, more accurately, one of our two local chippies) has just started opening on Sunday evenings. The quality isn't great but my car's off the road at the minute, so I couldn't drive to somewhere better :(
A similar thing where I lived in London, 'Chico. We had a Chinese that served chips (even on a Sunday). We were led to believe that the trading laws said that Fish n' Chip shops could not open on Sundays. But they were silent on Chinese takeaways (mainly because such establishments were not heard of when the law was framed). So our "Sunday Chipper" was a Chinese takeaway!
