A friend has read his will, Chris please advise
under absolute residuary gift - it says
" subject as above I give all my estate ..."
( the subject is clearly pecuniary and specific gifts )
he is now agonising that it should be " subject as above I give the residue of my estate ......."
and the wording he has will be held invalid in the event of his death
I said I would ask you - as you have spent a lifetime drafting these things.... Thanks

I actually spent just a few years drafting wills, PP, and that was a long time ago. "Subject as above I give the residue of my estate ......." would appear to me to have unnecessary words in it, as "I give the residue of my estate . . . " would seem to be sufficient.
