I was talking to a lady today who needs to use the services of a local food bank She surprised me by saying that she can only go twice every 6 months I was astounded Does anyone know if this is true nationally Are all the food banks regulated as to how much and how often people can go?

I'm starting (voluntary) work next Monday at our local food bank. Its disgusting that we even need such a charity when we spend billions each year in foreign aid when we have people going hungry in this country. Some people seem to think that 'scroungers' can just turn up and get free shopping anytime they want. They cant. Around here you are allowed 3 referrals...

I had to use one once when the dept of pensions failed to contact the working tax credit department when I was changing to pension from working tax credit. I was left with no money for 7 weeks. In addition to food they asked if I had a pet. I told them I had a dog and they gave me a 5Kg bag of dried dog food. They also gave me toilet paper and toothpaste.I could have got sanitary protection products if my wife had still needed them.
Yes the Homeless stress with the biggest stress out - cold bottled water. I have found Iceland give the most value for money.
Also they can't stress sanitary products enough and hygiene enough too - like wipes and not let's forget our pets. And that is true re the hot water, like Cupa Soups, Noodles like anything that can be "melted" with boiled water fills.
In Belfast there is a Homeless that comes out from 8.00 to 11 I every day - that will give you the best that they can do. Food and parcels.

I was once offered a referral from my probation officer at the time but turned it down as I received help from elsewhere.
