The panic of the 1990s coming back to bite us?

Also spreading somewhat in the US too, albeit currently at much lower rates. But measles was declared extinct in the US only 18 years ago, so that it's back there at all is a cause for concern.

Still, those infected are easy to spot.

//Europe is in the grip of an alarming rise in the number of almost untreatable cases of tuberculosis with countries in the east particularly at risk, new data has shown.
Overall, the number of cases of the airborne lung disease has fallen in recent years but experts are becoming increasingly alarmed at how it is becoming resistant to many frontline antibiotics.//

Does this have anything to do with the "Wakefield Scaremongering"?
Errr nope, nothing at all, it does however "have something to do" with the Measles epidemic. The source.

The shrinking world, with increased mobility for whatever cause has to be the primary factor in infectious disease occurrence. Add in lower than ideal vaccination rates and complacency about how dangerous some of these infections can be and you have the conditions for a perfect storm.

Maybe up to date vaccinations should be compulsory for all children starting school unless there is a valid medical reason. I don't like compulsion but I am not sure if education will every achieve the targets needed to protect the population.
