My son in law was told to go straight to hospital for blood test on liver this afternoon. His Doctor called him at work. He's only just gone back today after being I'll all week with what we and Dr thought a stomach virus. Sickness, diarreah and terrible sweats & pain in side. Son I l rang my daughter and Hepatitis was mentioned, said he was waiting for blood tests. He had blood tests last Monday but think they checked his kidneys. My daughter rang the Dr back because of the terrible sweats and still feeling unwell. Done more blood tests yesterday morning. Thus leading up with phone call today. How worried should we be if at all? Sqad?..
Thanks sqad. Much appreciated. He's home now having had more blood tests. Will have to go back in at some point for ultra scan and more blood works. I know he has a polyp on his liver. He is 35.
Thanks to Buen too.
Again....I would disagree with the NHS link.
Hepatitis E is certainly the most common type of hepatitis in DEVELOPING countries, mainly because of unsanitary conditions and water pollution, but although it has increased in the Western world in my readings it is not the commonest.
Hepatitis E infection is not a big deal.
Some limited information on here, not as drastic as the headline makes out!
"According to NHS England, Hepatitis A is a ‘liver infection caused by a virus that’s spread in the poo of an infected person’.
The virus can spread from person to person, but transmission usually requires close contact.
Thorough hand-washing with soap and warm water after going to the toilet and before preparing, serving or eating food is the best defence against Hepatitis A".
