P C Scanner

I am considering purchasing a Canon LIDE80 Scanner. Has anyone had any experience with this scanner that they would'nt mind sharing with me as I haven't much of a clue about them. Also can anyone please tell me what the difference is between a scanner that has a built in transparent materials adapter and one that includes a film adapter unit. Which is the best to have ? Thanks for any answers
