This is a bit of a long shot, but I will go ahead. I remember reading murder-mystery type books about twelve/thirteen. Basically, they were short stories whereby the reader had to solve a puzzle - who the murderer was. They were ranked 1-3 stars in terms of difficulty and ofter the clues were visual - all of the clues were written in the text. Please can anyone help me with the name of the series? I am 25 now and for some reason I have been thinking about them; nostalgia, eh?

I think they were written by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone---I remember their books being very popular at that time.
