Hi, does anyone out there own an LG WM14225FD direct drive washing machine, we have ours for about 5 years now, and it still stinks like something has died in there. I am not calling LG service, we called them out only 6 months after having the machine, and all he said was nothing you can do , you are going to have to live with it,Why should we buy another when this works Superb (except for the smell) which comes back a few times a month. Cleaned the Sink pipes, the internal spray pipe (just inside the door) checked the filter (regularly) even put a machine cleaner through it (regularly). HELP PLEASE its directly driving me to dispair. PS: the washing stinks too.

All I can suggest is that you do an empty wash about once a month. Put white vinegar and a splash of bleach in the soap drawer and put the machine on at a boil wash.

Also, take the drawer out between washes, leave the door open and dry the seal round the door with a cloth. Have a look in the drawer cavity after you've removed the drawer itself. Sometimes it can get quite mouldy in there.

I do all of that, and it seems to have stopped that awful mouldy smell you sometimes get.
Nothing to add, just want to say that 2sp's advice is spot on and cured the problem for us in the past.
I completely agree with 2sp and can only add Do you use liquid detergent? That is often the culprit.
Agree with sp's advice and that of Eccle's with regards to the liquid detergent, it made my machine reek.

Thanks for input: I only use washing power with a cap of softener, and Yes I do a regular hot Empty wash every month, but have not tried the Vinegar.
Has anyone looked into a fan kit ? (common in the USA)
The smell will be from the rubber door seal,if that is replaced it should be fine.

Why would I replace a rubber door seal that smells of "well, RUBBER" ?
Sorry but I was only trying to help you .I will keep my opinions to myself in future!!!!
