well they are easily killed but you cannot stop them comming in, they are a fact of life. In fact they are the good guys, they eat all manner of nasties and generally hang around out of sight. There was another thread recently where they said that they don't like the smell of conkers so you can put them in all the corners I suppose.
Please don't kill spiders, they are good things, why kill them, what harm have they done? they catch all the horrible things like flies, why not just get a glass place it over the spider slide a piece of paper under the glass and put it out in the garden, Please don't Kill them !!!!
Or get a cat! ... Last summer 2 huge spiders were in my home, one was on the wall so my other half dealt with that one as i'm s*it scared and the other i almost did'nt see as it was crawling on my carpet but my eagle eye tabby pounced on it and did her worst! She did leave all the legs, which was gross for me to sweep up with dustpan and brush! x

But honestly if they are small i'm not so bothered, these were huge, black and hairy and you could see their face! Arghhhhh! xx

thanks for the replys guys, the thing is i really dont want to kill them i want to stop them coming in with a spray or something and to come home and never see one in my house again they are making my life a misery im sick of checking behind curtains, pictures, and every other hidey hole. i have coped with my fear knowing my husband will get them but he works away during the week now so i am stuck with them , i could never ever put one under a glass and pick it up and i would rather have a thousand flies than one spider.

hi stressed out i do have a cat but im sure she is as scared as me my husband showed her one and she bolted out the door
I understand how you feel, but there is no efficient way of keeping spiders out of your house.

Don't worry about not being able to put them outside - house spiders are designed to live and die indoors - they won;t survive long outside, it's not their natural environment.

Try leaving a towel draped over the edge of your bath touching the bottom - this will enable any who fall in to climb out, and you probably won't see them.
there is a contraption that is a sort pf perspex pyramid on the end of a long pole - you place it over the spider and rotate the pyramid so that a small sliding door slides down and traps it. then you just walk to the door window and turn the pyramid the other way round again and it will fall out - the pole is about 3ft long, but you could always add a broom pole to it if you liked, so you never even need to go near it.
i expect a search on the net will turn one up - think it was about 5

there is also an essential oil that they don't like but i can't recall which one it is - perhaps do a search?
As a pest controller I can assure you that without having the property treated every few weeks there is nothing that will keep spiders out. I am also sh!t scared of them (bit embarrassing for a pest control officer) its those hairy legs!! but would not harm them without good reason.

hahahaha a pest controller scared of spiders i know i shouldnt laugh but its funny so everytime i see one now im going to think of you being scared and hopefully i will laugh instead of crying. many thanks RATTER15 and to everone else for there advice
As far as I know there are no sprays etc that will kill spiders on the market. A better idea is to go to site ----------------www. iwant one of those.com --------- and you will find a brilliant spider catcher. I bought one for my daughter and she thinks it's fab.
Maybe you need to conquer your arachnaphobia? Ian Banyard cured me of mine. I'll never love spiders but I no longer freak out if I see one and am quite able to just brush them aside if they venture too close. Ian can be found on the internet and he does run phobia classes regularly. I think he was on GMTVs House of Fear a few years ago.
