Pigs Feet In Slow Cooker

Do I place the trotters on top of the vegetables ?

"When cooked, take the vegetables and a drop of the liquid and blitz with blender." You should have added, at that stage "then throw the pig's feet into the dustbin". Pigs' "trotters" are an abomination and are glorified by butchers who wish to claim that the only part of a pig not used is the squeak! :-)

Hi there retrocop,I have put leek cut in half, two large carrots halved, onion halved, whole red pepper in large pieces and two pigs feet,a vegetable stock cube and several cloves of garlic( according to taste and fill half way with water.Season .
When cooked, take the vegetables and a drop of the liquid and blitz with blender.Amount of water according to how thick you like it.Then pour back over the feet.Of course there are many ways to ring the changes,I have done them with chorizo and tomato as well.I serve with rice but .again,as you like it.

Pigs trotters need to be boiled before using. You either boil them vigorously in stock, then discard stock, coat trotters in egg & crumbs and bake, or pre boil them before putting in a slow cooker. Putting them in a slow cooker raw is asking for trouble.
I've only had them once, bullied into trying them as a 'delicacy' in France, they are blinking awful.

How hurtful.Think of all those legless porkers rolling around knowing the rosbifs do not appreciate their sacrifice.!!!
Try a little Entente Cordiale instead. :-)

Entente cordiale -great with gin ;-)
Seriously, love frogs legs, won't try snails, sweetbreads with garlic butter - formidable!
Trotters? nah....They smell of farmyard, have loads of microbes between the toes that's why they need boiling. They are great for making jellied stock though.
Vive la differance!

My nana used to make the most gorgeous Brawn and as a child loved it with toast. Then I saw one day how it started out, she had half a pig's head and two trotters bubbling away in a large pan. As I recall we used to eat quite a bit of offal as a child including tripe which I loved with salt & vinegar. To me pigs trotters have a farmyard taste and next to no meat. They are good for making jellied stock though.
