Big Brother aeroplane cover noises

I never really watched big brother much, but when I did you never seemed to be able hear what anyone was sayin because their voises were covered by the sound of chickens or an aeroplane. It didnt seem to be because of swearing as it was for long periods of time and during normal conversation. Does anyone know the reason for this, i just remebered how much I wanted to know before I found answer bank and thought I would put it to you guys, Thanks

Sometimes it was because of swearing on the live broadcast, which obviously couldn't go out during the day. Other times it was because the housemates were talking about something that channel 4 might want to put in the highlights programme at the end of the day. They didn't think anyone would watch it if they had already seen the juicy bits/arguments/blinking during the live broadcast.

It's also for anyone talking about slanderous/legal type things. They can't have a housemate slagging off a celebrtiy, for instance, and then have the celebrity sue C4 because it was untrue and can't prove otherwise. Also to protect ordinary public, for instance people the housemates know. Again, if a friend of yours was in there and started saying on national television that you didn't something that you didn't do, you may have a case for legal action. So Channel 4 don't want the hassel and so mask out any conversation, which could be considered libellous.

If that's what they were trying to do, Treaclefight, they obviusly failed.... at least in our house.... I think I managed about 15 mins before I nodded off...

I think it happened when one of them was in danger of saying something intelligent/interesting or funnny - for fear of losing ratings
