Thanks for your comments Quizmonkey. I got to Polly or Molly as well for girls names to go with Emmy. I did not know that Oscar is slang for money, but, if so, there is no currency that I can find to fit with r?ng ! Rang, ring and rung are the only possibilities that I can see. I'm still wracking my brain to find a connection with that and either mar? or par?. Perhaps some inspiration may come our way !?!
Hi kayakamina
The crossword is in the magazine section of the Saturday Independent, entitled Weekend Crossword.
I have won a few bottles of champagne from it over the years.
Ulysses - I've virtually abandoned this one. I thought of Rand - but it has to be a G. We may well end up kicking ourselves when we see the solution. I too have had a few bottles of bubbly - not this time though!
Thanks for these contributions - of course no-one's intruding!! I had thought of ringgit, but Chambers doesn't support the abbreviation. And I have gone over the other answers so many times and I feel it really does have to be R-NG (so no dong)!
Thanks for the laughs folks. As Quizmonkey says we'll probably never finish it and have to wait for the answers and then kick ourselves because it was so obvious (or not) in the first place !
The missing words associated with Oscar are definitely R?NG and ?AR?. If Polly or Molly is correct then the first letter of ?AR? is P or M
