Hindsight is a wonderful thing but to try and extract it to facing and diesel both have been researched whereas this tyre experiment wasn't is stretching the point a bit.
Thalidomide saves lives.
DDT has saved countless millions.
Asbestos and mercury are naturally occurring.
You used much the same list to say why we should remain in the EU.
Your mind works in strange ways.
Fracking? Who will dismantle the giant windmills when they are redundant, and dispose of the millions of solar panels, where will we bury the spent batteries from electric cars? The op thinks that rhinoceroses are just overweigh unicorns.
can you predict the unexpected ?
all the named products had side effects that no one dreamed about
(the prevalent idea about pregnancy in the early 60s was that the developing child was in a privileged position and could not be dislodged or affected in any way)
"diesel wasn't researched nearly enough, was it? How long did it take for the U-turn to come?"
I am sure when Mr Rudolph Diesel invented the first diesel engine between 1893-97 most of western civilisation were happy to choke on the fumes of the Industrial Revolution and all the new financial benefits it bought as do the Chinese and Indians now. It's a bit rich to put the worlds woes on diesel engines. If there were no diesel engines we would be still using horse and carts and dreys with the resultant methane gases destroying the ozone layer a lot sooner. Still if your roses are blooming who gives a dobbins s..t? :-)
You gotta laugh at the Green party. Seems they didn't research enough the dangers of solar panels they are so happy to promote to others. The only seat they had was Brighton and Hove. They immediately promoted their green credentials and installed solar panels on their, once, magnificent Town Hall. It burnt down. Back to the drawing board. :-)
