In town today a youngish woman walked towards me. She had so many piercings on her face I swear she rattled! Also half of her face was tattooed totally.
It looked horrendous.

I hate those earlobe things. When the 'fashion' is over, they've still got massive, hideous holes in their ears.

I don't know if the 'tattoo/piercing' craze is a fashion as such - you don't see many fashion magazine editors with their faces disfigured like that.
There's an awful lot of it around, though. I'd estimate about 99% of my adult customers have tattoos and or piercings (not including ordinary lobe piercing). The phase will pass and they'll all be stuck with their passé inkings and various holes.
Imagine, a world full of passe holes.
douglas, there is no need to imagine!
We have two tattoo parlours in our little town but recently, a new shop has opened...a laser tattoo removal shop.
As said each to their own, but any facial piercings I find off putting even if as subtle as a stud in the nose. I'm not overly fond of tattoo's either.
I think facial tattoos and multiple facial piercings are actually anti-fashion and a statement of non conformity. Unfortunately this is sometimes seen in mainstream society as an affinity to the criminal world and drugs. Unlike body tattoos that can be hidden for work, facial tattoos and multi-piercings are there on show 24/7 and must surely hinder the person from getting a job.

My three eldest kids all have tattoos ranging from a tiny cartoon character my eldest daughter has, to large tattoos on the back and arms. None can been seen when wearing office dress which is a good as one is in senior management, but my youngest daughters wedding dress was totally spoiled ( in my opinion) by the huge tattooed butterfly on her back.
Personally I think facial tattoos and piercings are 'common',that's probably my age and upbringing and despite I would probably make a snap judgement about someone based on their facial tattoos.
I know a lot of tattooed and pierced people and tbh it's none of my business, some look great, some don't look great ( to me) but all have expressed themselves as they see fit and most people tattoos are meaningful to them.
I've got my ears pierced six times each ear and you can't tell when they are removed, I have my nose pierced ( likewise you can't tell) and my navel pierced, again quite unnoticeable. I have one small tattoo of my partner's name in an ECG tracing on my innermost thigh, so not noticeable at all unless I'm naked. I can't have anything very obvious in an ideal world because of work ( although there is good coverage make up these days.
My partner has 15 tattoos at the moment, some small some larger, all of which mean something to him, including my initial worked into another tattoo, and a very old ear piercing which he practically never wears.
I tend to think it's not a 'fashion' more a form of art and self expression a AL suggests.
Tattoos should be restricted to Edinburgh, and metal-piercing restricted to riveting on ship-hulls and bridges etc.
Does that apply to elderly middle class ladies who have their ears pierced Sanmac? :) x
I think piercings (nose and ears) are pretty cool, anywhere else i'm not a fan (apart from nipple maybe...ladies ;) )

Tattoos are a cool form of expression
Live and let express
No, unless of course their name happens to be Rosie The Riveter.
Hate them, think they are ugly and on a bride in a beautiful bridal gown, think they look ludicrous.
I am a great believer in personal expression, and I am not at all upset by how other people choose to present themselves.

All body art is unique to the person, and in the case of tattoos, to the artist who created them, and some are better than others!

As for nose piercing on ladies - you do need an appropriately shaped nose to look nice with a piercing, the sort of aquiline noses that Asian ladies have look good, but some of the beaky and pointy noses that some Western ladies are blessed with, tend to be somewhat over-emphasised with a piece of metal added!

I think the exhibitors of their artwork should avoid walking by scrap yards that use electro-magnetic cranes. I think it might scare the horses and I disapprove.
