Exhausted and with a sore back after moving 300 yards to my new flat, I have no heating.

I’m on a PAYG tariff until my old power company changes me over. I topped up a card with £10 and inserted it into the meter thingy. No Gas.

It is saying “Emcr £0.00 Available. What am I doing wrong?

I must say that the card meter is at the back and sideways on in a cupboard in th kitchen. I am kneeling on a cushion and trying to take pictures of it on my phone.

Any help with buttons to press etc would be great. Help!!

Is it a new card?
It should always have £5 for emergency credit. Unless, that credit has been used. There's also the possibility that money was owed on the meter.
chrissa, try giving the card a wipe with a clean cloth.
Is the card for that particular meter?
Have you inserted the card right way up or round?
And if it is a new card for that meter, did you insert it into the meter before buying credit?

That was very interesting, tonyav. My problem is, that I can’t read what the meter is saying, as it’s dark and way, way back in the cupboard, sideways on.

I’ll get my son to check what it’s saying tomorrow.

The card was in the kitchen, unopened, when I came in, this morning.

Thanks all. It’s not too cold this evening, thank goodness.

Cheers.
Was gonna say try to use a mirror to look at the display, but the figures would be backwards.
I'm sure your son will sort it in the morning, chrissa.

Plus. I wear glasses, tonyav. :( :))
Never mind, chrissa. Bet it won't take your son long to sort the problem.

He will. :)
