Anyway its here now.
On Wednesdays and Thursdays I'm out on the van (foodbank) as a drivers mate.
On Wednesday I work with a retired trucker. Get on great with him, he's always telling me stories of his trucking days with more expletives thrown into the conversation than might be necessary at times but a great bloke to have a laugh with.
On Thursdays I work with a Christian of the born again variety. Again a great bloke to work with but the constant preaching and talk of Jesus and God is getting to me a bit. Ive already told him that I don't accept the Bible as having any merit. I havnt gone into any detail with him about my background as an ex evangelical Christian and that I reject religious belief on numerous grounds. However, spending the morning been preached at is getting to me a bit. I always try to steer the conversation away from religion but invariably it returns.
How would you deal with it?
(and have you ever had to deal with it?)
Thanks.
(Im not good at dealing with confrontation in real life, but resent being preached at...)

Add to that his son hasn't always coped with things as well as he seems to be doing at the moment I don't find it creepy. Just a concerned father trying to get advice and info with a view to helping two young people he cares about.
Bit late to this (as usual). T.b.h. Nailit, I find the 'Born Again,, evangelistic types really hard to deal with and tolerate, so I do understand how you feel. Yes I have had to deal with it and it makes me feel uncomfortable (and I'm a practising Christian!).
I think in your case I might say something like 'Look, mate, I am working with God in my own way. I can ask others about any queries and problems. We will get on better if you don't preach at me. Then I'd feel free to ask you if I wanted any advice.' I would hope that that might work. The passionate, evangelical types don't understand the hackles that they cause to rise and they do us all a disservice. Sorry you're stuck with one - don't write the rest of us off, please, and please keep on with delivering food to people who need it. :)

Ive mentioned many times on here that one of my closest friends is a retired pastor. Got no problem at all with it...despite people like Theland stating that I hate Christians (I obviously dont). Couldn't give a fig what anyone believes but if someone starts to tell me that I need God/the Bible etc or to be a fulfilled human being then I start to take the hump.
