If you want to put a shortcut on your desktop so that you can get straight to that link, go to that page and then make your browser window less than full-screen size. (Click on the overlapping squares at the top right of your screen to do that). Then drag the symbol which appears to the immediate left of the web address onto your desktop.

Thanks. When I sign into that I get a screen "Control Protect and Secure your accounts .... " with headings such as Sign in, Personal Info etc.
When I sign in it directs me to setting up a new gmail address, stating that my existing address(the one I want to get into) is already in use.
I am lost !!

Although I've got a Gmail address (because it's almost essential to get the best from an Android phone) I don't normally use it. However I've just logged in using the same route that you've taken. When you get to the page with "Control, protect & secure, etc" there are various logos across the top of the page. One of them is a big red letter 'M'. That's the link to get into your Gmail.
We had our Gmails hacked recently, whoever it was that hacked us did so for nearly a month, as there were repeated sign ins on both our accounts from an unrecognised device prior to them making themselves known. Not a Gmail fan tbh, so we shut down our original emails entirely changed routers and passwords and have 2 factor ID now, but I'm still feeling very upset and leary about it all, since they had been fishing through all of our private stuff :(
A bit of web searching suggests it might be a problem with your browser using a cached page. Try clearing your browser's cache. (This page has links to the instructions for all major browsers: https:/ /kinsta .com/kn owledge base/ho w-to-cl ear-bro wser-ca che/#se ttings_ saved ).
