DVD players

Hi, can anyone enlighten me as to what it means if a dvd says you need a region 1 DVD player to play the film? Thanks in advance!

Certain DVDs only work on DVD players from certain countries:
region 1: USA & Canada
region 2: EUROPE (including England!)
region 3: Asia
region 4: Australia & New Zealand
region 5: Russia
region 6: China
So basically if you want a DVD that'll play in this country gor for region 2.
