Hello, I’ve been a keen watcher of AIRCRASH INVESIGATION and have seen enough air crashes to make me weary.

I can’t help but think at the last minutes of a plane crash that if everyone had parachutes lives could be saved.

This has prompted me to look into buying a parachute when traveling abroad.

I have no experience in “ skydiving” but am assuming it’s pull and hope for the best? But better then going down with a plane doing nothing imo.

Can you operate a parachute with no prior experience?

I do understand that plane doors cannot be opened at high altitudes due to pressure but can be at lower altitudes.

I also understand the danger of being sucked into a planes engine but would gladly take that risk if the plane was going to crash.
Are parachutes allowed as hand luggage and would this be allowed or raise eyebrows from security and stop me travelling?

I'll risk it, Ozz.
// With all due respect most would be sat in their seats waiting to see what happens next or praying//

no not quite - there is some censorship

There is viddie of an orderly queue to evacuate - sort of like you see on coronation street
and then the voice over said - we offered ten bucks to the first out.
and the viddie showed - biting scratching screaming
with the fat lady out of Airplane surfing over the seat heads, showing her knickers in her hurry to get ahead

Dont you think that as you stand at the exit doors waiting for them to spring open
that someone - a hijacker with a gun or something
will say 'right I will have that!'
// But you will have also been traveling at 550mph//

yeah the comoros airplane that ran out of petrol landed in the er Comoros at 360 km /hr ( deaths reported of those standing and not strapped in ) - shown on teevee a few days ago
The hijackeers and the photographer who were not strapped in all died.

IN that one - the captain screamed over the audio
kill him kill him I am flying the plane!
and the passengers all sat there stunned like plum puddings and wobbling like jellies

one survivor said - well it was so odd having the captain say that, we all sat there thinking - what can he mean? I think I'll wait and see !
I'm not sure D B Cooper thought his plan through. (unlike Magic^)
have you thought of shipping yourself in a cage or something and flying steerage?

No death has been reported of a man in a dog cage in the hold when a plane crashes
so it must be safer than the usual way !
PP, you're a star! LOL! :o)
More to the point - why not put a bloddy great parachute on the plane ?
Just teach yourself to fly.
Big umbrella?
