Went to job agency to look for work and had to bring everything to proof i was english and i was eligible to work in the country. They wanted a passport , everything ,what the hell is going on here . I am well and truly english just from a small town . What the hell is going on ? thanks

You want to try Britain instead. We can do all of those things, Christmas, hot cross buns. Obviously you get a few loonies who genuinely believe that such things have been banned, but you can just ignore them. They're all mad anyway.

Personally i'd much sooner pay taxes to assist the bona fide asylum seekers than the scrotes who leave school and follow in their parents footsteps with intention of doing sweet FA apart from queuing at the job centre,popping baby scrotes out and expecting as much as they can get from the council/government

I find it strange that many people in the UK are concerned about the legality of its immigrant population and then object to the security methods employed by the British Government and agencies to ensure jobs and benefits are only given to those who have a right to receive them.

I would also warn against accepting 'Migration Watch' as a fair and independent statistical body. It is merely a more cultured and believable British version of the scaremongering right wing shock jocks found in the USA. They are renowned for massaging facts and figures to appeal to the basest fears of concerned people.

For every such organization spreading fears of rampaging immigrant hordes, you will find an organization that tells a different story. Read widely and take your pick, depending on your instincts and beliefs.

With the immigration problem we have in this country I think it right that you should prove you are British before gaining employment.

Do not worry though, it will not last much longer. John Reid is introducing tough new measures to combat illegal immigrants. They will not dare come here when they learn that Passport Control officers are wearing a uiform and if that doesn,t frighten them off then the fact that they would be logged leaving the country is the ultimate deterrent.

So we can all sleep easy. The problem is solved.

Rewind to 200 years ago. What did the Brits do around the world. They colonised and spread their language. they took all the wealth and brought it back to blighty and lived off the wealth. Sorry lads but the chickens have come to roost. Most of the migration into the UK is from the commonwealth and the main reason being....the language. germany and france are equally good places to live...but they cant speak the llocal anguage. So next time you want to colonise the world...speak in spanish.

I personally can't wait for Albania to join the EU because then all of the Albanian properties I've bought up for sixpence will sky-rocket in value and I'll do very well thank you very much. It's not just a one way street you know, they can come here, we can go there and take advantage of the fact that you can buy property for next to nothing ( �800 is not unusual). Once a few more of us are doing this ( and there are a fair few at the moment) property there will increase in value accordingly and some Albanians will start to benefit from that. Once that happens, you have an indiginous population with some financial muscle and once their economy is stronger ( tourism etc is really growing there) you'll find that the migration from that country slows. Stop being so bloody alarmist about immigration. If there was less paranoia about it no-one would have to show their ID anywhere and we'd all still be happily living as we always have.

Just because there are a few stories about idiots in about 2 or 3 local councils renaming xmas lights "winter lights" doesn't mean you "can't celebrate christmas" or that the "do-gooders" are taking over. Those sorts of things are stupid, I agree, but they get too much coverage and people use them as a reason to moan about the "state of the country".

Yes I agree that Engineer, based on what he said and the way he said it, has no chance of being allowed into New Zealand.

I have to interview and hire staff where I work, unless they can provide a national Insurance Number on their initial application i am not allowed to interview them, if I do employ them I have to have a copy of either a passport or driving licence before they are allowed to start work. my head office tell me it is the employment law to have sight of such id before an employee can start work.

Dot a person can apply for an NI Number because they have started or are about to start a job and can use a Temporary Number until it is allocated, so I'm not sure why you are prevented from accepting applications without one.
