Dealing With Scroungers
51 Answers
The overwhelming majority of benefit claimants live in poverty, are treated unfairly, and need support not condemnation.
The government quite correctly insist that people are better off in work to escape poverty.
But, unemployment may be at an all time low, not surprising since there are so many temporary jobs about, and zero hour contracts.
So where are all the jobs that the benefit claimants should be applying for?
Yet there remains a very tiny number of people whose lifestyle choice is to reject work, and live on benefits.
Without being controversial or argumentatative, how should we deal with shirkers and scroungers?

Meant to add if you want a job you will get one. I personally have offered jobs to unemployed fit young men ( ha ha) as laborers or doing unskilled work and each one had declined it because 'they will lose their benefits'. One the other hand foriegn workers can't seem to get enough hours and would work a Sunday if asked. There is a section of UK society who will take without giving and expect a roof over their head and pocket money all on the Tax Payer.
^^^ so am I.
My definition of a scrounger is someone who is quite capable of going to get a job but prefers handouts. Some posters tried to justify this by saying it was difficult to go to interviews as transport costs were so high. I countered that by providing proof there is help towards transport costs for both Interviews and the first three months of work if you have been in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance.
When I go to town I see plenty of the 'minority' of scroungers dragging behind their fat wives, fags or vapes in hand, stuffing sausage rolls into the mouths of their obese kids. I think the majority of them would die if they were offered a job.

bainbrig . Who are these villains you talk of? Seriously, people who have been to university, studied got into good jobs in the banking world and just have a profession you don't like? Businessmen who have worked their nuts off sometimes 70 hours a week and are providing jobs for people? Yes they have flash cars and big houses -so what?
This 'minority' you speak of, these scroungers have given nothing to society and take handouts like its a given right. I live in the NE of England, high unemployment and even higher scrounging. I see it on a daily basis and know how much money some of these Benefit claimants get in both hard tax free cash and free houses. I have lost count of the number of times I've offered work to these types and they don't want it -not even cash in hand! Cardboard commies who stick up for these wasters need a good dose of reality if you ask me.
