Wednesday. I've been awake since 0215. Guests to lunch today, two of my dearest friends. I'm looking forward to seeing them. I'll be a zombie by the time they go home! No change there then! I thought I'd pop that in before someone else does! :o}
Emmie Jen will get worried about me this morning because I have to do some fixings on roof. I am totally qualified and able to do it safely, but she will still want to be at bottom of ladders to catch me lol. Fortunately she never sees me at real work, then she might get scared, but I always work safely, but not in her eyes. I wouldnt want to be a ward nurse on a psychiatric ward but shes done that when police bring someone in take of the hand cuffs and say "over to you"
hi Rowan I am. Emmie biggest problem will be that Jens heart gives out. Fortunately we have a defibrillator on local store wall and I will be given code number to open box ~ Ive put myself through training but will still have to be monitored or told what to do by a 999 operator
Have you thought about asking for a monitor that would only alarm if her figures go into a dangerous level. That way once she was used to it she wouldn't need waking up every 30 minutes.
Rowan didnt know they existed for home use, only thing Ive seen is one probe put on Jens finger or earlobe, does that do the same thing? Will ask nurse about it when she comes today.
The finger or earlobe gadget measures pulse and oxygen saturation but you need one with a volume control they are really cheap. I had one when Dave was dying £5.99 from amazon. You can also have an automatic blood pressure machine from some trusts. If not the better home ones have a repeat setting but they will eat up the batteries. You could use the pulse oximeter as a guide and only check blood pressure if it alarms, if blood pressure drops the fingers lose supply quite quickly so it would alarm at that point. To be honest though it sounds like she isn't well enough for unsupported home care. Have you enquired about having a trained sitter a couple of nights a week. Not a normal carer but someone who knows what to do if things start to go wrong.
