Got a new BT Fibre Hub last week, set it up with my laptop.. An old Emachines 430... as well as my ipad and phone, all worked well, internet and wifi fine, printed fine from laptop. Today my laptop wont print although the ipad works fine with the printer. Keeps coming up as printer offline, although I have checked and it is connected to my new hub correctly, should I delete the printer from the laptop, and reload it? Why is it saying offline? Not technical guys so easy instructions please, thanks in advance.

Sometimes if I turn my router on and off the printer on my PC (wi fi connected) says offline and no matter what I do eventually I have to uninstall and reinstall the printer.

There are some suggestions of how to fix it on the internet (do a search for "printer offline") but they have never worked for me.

Why were my answers removed ed??
The router is assigning a different IP address to the printer eacxh time the printer (or router) is re-started.

The computer is looking for the printer on the original IP address, and canlt see it again.

I donlt use Windows, but I thougth there was an option to 'use printer on varying IP address' or something.

The alternative is to set up a fixed IP address for the printer on the router.

Good luck
They were probably spammers, Smurfchops. We get quite a few who add irrelevant posts onto the ends of threads. (They get paid for putting links online, so that Google see those links and pushes the relevant websites up its rankings. They couldn't care less that they might be posting a link to, say, a college course provider in Mumbai on a totally unrelated thread on a UK website).

If you're still having problems, try removing the power to your router, wait for a minute or two, power it up again, wait until all of the lights on it have got back to normal and then attempting to print from your laptop again. That will often clear IP address conflicts, which can cause such problems.

I will try again tomorrow. Thanks all.

As soon as I switched off the offline tick, it came up as an error and still will only print with cable connected.
