Well said Neddy! I am constantly disheartened at how little we (or at least our appointed leaders) care who enters or leaves our country. In theory we have the easiest country to police, and yet we seem to allow anyone to come here, and then show no interest in whether or not they leave again!

The UK is far from the easiest country to police. come on. I agree that we need a certain amount of identification, but to what degree? Where does it stop?

As an island nation we have no land borders with anyone and the majority of people, legal or otherwise, arrive through designated points eg airports and sea ports. We do not have the problem of people walking or driving across our borders, which I would suggest makes it relatively easy to manage. I believe we keep no records of who has arrived or left (the USA maintain a record of arrivals and departures and I expect they link the two together. It doesn't take a genuis to organise that, it's done with little green forms which you fill out yourself.) Given the ease with which people seem able to forge and even swap, passports and photographs, the technology exists to provide definitive identification so we should use it. Also it's about time we had more secure credit cards. Are you in favour of Chip & PIN Caladon?

Yes and no. Of course it is slightly more secure, but as my friends and, especially, father and grandfather point out; people have more than 1 credit card and it means more than one pin number. People are forgetful, no matter their age. People won't be able to remember al the PINs.

I totally agree with you that we do have the ability to control whom enters the country, yet we do not. It IS very simple to buy a fake passport from other countries, especially Commonwealth and the modern countries.

According to Tonights news, Due to recent terrorist attacks in Europe, A voluntary ID card will be introduced this year, and a compulsory one will be introduced within Five. Apparently, Either a photo of your eyes, or a fingerprint will be on this card, and will replace both passports and driving licences.

I dont have a problem with this . most of Europe has it. or rather have ID cards .
