Yes we do Tilly, as bad as it sounds thousands of kangaroos are shot every year.
Ever seen a maggot ridden scrawny kangaroo trying to gain sustenance in the middle of a city?

Not a nice sight, humane culling?

I have a nice collection of hats Rowan, not sure which one will pull for me ;-/
Thankfully, I have never seen a maggot infested kangaroo.

But, ever since white man started farming downunder the locals have had a problem that is difficult to deal with.
Same old story, Oz. Loss of natural environment. 'Tis a pity.
Loss of natural environment and an introduced environment that encourages breeding but doesn't quite suit the outcome.

I would love it if animals didn't need culling.

Looked through the sights of a rifle many times, didn't like doing it.

But, quick death or prolonged starvation?
What happens to the culled ones? Are they gathered up and disposed of somewhere?
Sometimes their bodies do become sustenance and their skin becomes leather, depends if the "chillers" are operating..

Other times afraid not!

Left to rot with fox poison stuffed in their innards.
