This is what it is all about. It is good to remember the sacrifices of past generations. WWI was to be the war to end all wars - we don't seem to have been very successful. So, we need not only to remember but we need to learn from our mistakes.

Thankyou wolf x

I must have missed it?...but so, so sorry to hear about Princess Merlin. Xxx
Is there a link?
I still miss all of those who shared my life, it's just that now I laugh when I remember them and what they got up to.
I shall have to listen to it later but on the subject of remembering the wars.

There is a whole generation that has not known what a true war is (no bad thing of course) so to a degree they have become complacent and somewhat disdainful of those that have. Prolonged peace brings liberalisation and a belief that ‘it happens elsewhere to other people in another time’.

They haven’t lived through fear of nightly bombing and air raids, rationing, shortages etc. Or of self reliance, make and make do, stiff upper lip and everything that makes us stoically British.

They take peace for granted and only an occasional blip that doesn’t really effect them pokes its head up and then just slides down again marrs life. But even that is forgotten by the next news round.

I miss all the little devils that have been in my life.
Pasta, it was mentioned on The GMEB thread this morning.
Oh dear sorry to hear you have lost one of your beloved pets x

pasta - I posted it on Facebook this morning and it sort of drifted over to here.

It was a total shock, I thought that she had a bug but when I went to speak to her this morning she was lying on the floor panting. She didn't even try to bite me when I put her in her carrier. The vet put her on oxygen but her lungs were full of fluid. It is all the 'what ifs' that haunt you, she had been poorly yesterday but no real indication of something serious.

Frankie is acting weirdly - scent marking everything and he went into the toy box and threw out some toys.

I still can't believe that the evil little beech is gone.

It was me, because like many on here I care and will miss your cat adventures. Saving a fortune in elastoplast doesn't make up for it.
Oh wolf, I'm so,so sorry. (((Hugs))). It's so much worse when it's out of the blue like that...a real shock. Hopefully she didn't suffer. Give Frankie loads of cuddles... he'll give them back in return.

Rowan, thanks for mentioning it, I couldn't have faced it this morning.

Pasta, it's weird not having her pester me every five minutes.

It's an awful loss, Wolfy. My fat boy has been gone since March, and I'm still upset, every single day.
I understand wolf. Caspar as we all know is about as noisy as any cat could possibly be. He drives me nuts. But when he's not been well, I feel so worried as the silence isn't normal.
That was very poignant, Wolf. Thank you for posting.

I had a bit of a tear as I listened. And also I couldn't help thinking of you and Frankie and her departed majesty. Asbo would be sad for you too if he could think abput anyone other than himself. Xxx

Susan. I'm so sorry to hear about merlin. It's obvious to all of us ,how much you adored merlin and frankie. There is nothing I can say to make you feel any better. So sad . Anne x
To wolf and Frankie - so very sorry for you both.
If anyone reads Horse and Hound I have an article in there this coming week about Horses returning from the war actually. People may find it interesting
Hi Dot, you well?
