. . . buy the Christmas gifts recommended by newspaper journalists?

https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2018/nov/17/the-christmas-gift-guide-100-great-buys-for-every-budget

A bottle of pepper sauce?

A kids' toothbrush?

Silver nail clippers?

Lip balm?

A packet of corn snacks?

Soap on a rope for twenty quid?

A £35 hot water bottle?

More importantly perhaps, would anyone here actually want to receive such gifts?

Okay......most then!
real Mondriaan socks might be nice, but those things with the joke eyes? No thanks.
We get all sorts of unwanted gifts. and see it as an opportunity for recycling. So Ben’s gift of socks gets recycled to Babs, Bab’s gift of wine goes to Cath, Cath’s chocolates go to Dave, and so on. Everybody ends up with something (except us, which suits us fine!)
