Shop bought shortcrust, i bought one the other day and the top burnt i remember thinkingg should inhave egged the too but i don’t think it was a shortcrust

Shall i egg me shortcrust pie?

Egg on savoury, milk on sweet, sound like you might have used too much.

It just gives a shiny glaze. Wiped with egg won't stop it burning. Too much heat and too long will.

Thank you both, yes maybe too much heat.. got a gass oven and the knob is all faded so cannie see what mark it’s on unless it’s 6

Get an oven thermometer! Sounds like your oven temp might need adjusting.

I’ve got one to be honest but always comes up low, have it at top of oven also! But it is at the front.. had the pie front medium
