Restaurant Chain To Ban Mobile Phones
but for one week only as an experiment, and you get a child's meal free, would it work for longer. I must admit i find it off putting when people are on their mobiles throughout a meal, its rude unless it's an emergency then that would be different.

Personally I don't care what other people do with their phones when they are in a restaurant. Their rudeness rarely affects me. I'd have something to say if they were with me, but my relatives, friends and acquaintance s have better manners than to faff about with a phone when they are at the dinner table. Retro - that's not realistic in this day and age. You can't predict when a family member will die. One of my uncles died in his sleep. The warden controlled flat he lived in phoned me. I have to look at my phone. I have elderly relatives. I don't play games or text people ...but I do need to be on call.

My youngest brother was brought up to go out with me, we are a lot different in ages, where he was well behaved mainly because i didn't patronise him but treated him with respect. Now he instils that in his family, who are mostly a delight to be around.
