Some Fun - Haiku

Have just described a Haiku to my mother, a question of Pointless.....

3 lines, 5 syllables for lines 1 and 3 and 7 for the middle one, doesn't have to rhyme....

I've just written one for her....it even registered!

'The wine glass tasted
My mother drunk as a fart
Dinner yet to start.'

Let's see yours and a BA up for grabs

On a purely technical point, your commas might be considered syllables, Tilly. (Consider Pope’s Essay on Man for masterly use of punctuation...)

Same in yours, Ken. The exclamation mark is a definite ‘foot’. Try reading out loud.

I have read it to myself out loud, bainbrig and, to my way of thinking, the punctuation does not add further syllables to the haiku. Now, if i were dictating it....................................

I agree, an element of being finicky and pedantic here - and, for this thread, it's more about the fun than the preciseness. Okay, it may be like some ragged sushi but the key thing in the sushi ought to be the taste, so when it comes to a Chatterbank thread it's about content.
