why is it that whenever i put tomatoes in my sandwiches they make the bread soggy? when i buy sanwiches this dosn't happen ,i have even tried patting the tomatoes with a paper kitchen towel to mop up the excess moisture
Put butter or marge on both sides of the bread, and that should stop the moisture getting through. Mind you, some people on a picnic like a soggy sandwich containing tomatoes!
I think that commercial sandwich makers often use a layer of lettuce between the tomato slice and bread to help form a barrier, So for a ham and tomato sandwich, you may have layers like bread, ham, tomato, lettuce, bread.
A fashionable and healthy way is to grease said bread with olive oil first; personally I prefer them soggy especially when they are warm and smell of tupperware, a nostalgic effect I'm, er, quite fond of.
