Iphone 6 Has A Black Line Down The Screen

When I switched my phone on this morning there is a black vertical line the whole way down the screen about a third in from the right side. It's working ok, but I wondered what has happened and should I do anything?

Sounds like the lcd part of the screen is faulty

Open an app that will work in 'landscape' mode if you rotate the phone.

Does the black line stay in the same place (ie it's now horizontal)?

If so, it sounds like damage to either the screen or the connector to the motherboard.

Try turning the phone off - not just sleep but actually powered down - then count twenty and switch it on again.

Thanks for your help. I think I will take it into Tesco and see what they say. I don't know how to open an app like you suggest Dave, or how to power down the phone so I will leave it to the young people to do it for me!
