Scanguard For Apple Mac - Any Views ?

I am being repeatedly urged via online ads to use Scanguard (usual multi-level it seems, free sample version and fee-bearing more comprehensive version) - it boasts security and performance benefits.

1. Is it genuine ?

2. Is it any good ?

Does anyone have any experience of it please ?

My general rule is to ignore ANY advert for software that offers "performance benefits".

Generally any benefits are so slight that you will hard notice.

Dont be tempted by ANY online adverts, particularly for security software.

Go and look for it in the app store and check on the reviews. If its not in the app store then don't bother

These type of programs work by "scaring" people in to thinking they have loads of problems on their computer.

You install it and run a "free" scan and it highlights all sorts of errors, which of course it will offer to fix if you pay them some money.

Almost all of the errors they find are NOT errors, they will just pluck a number out the air and say you have "57 major errors" or some such thing.

Also note these companies also set up fake "review" web sites where they look like an independent web site that reviews software, and of course they give it a glowing review.

So BE CAREFUL of any glowing reviews for this product you read on the web, it was almost certainly written by the company themselves.

Thank you Guilbert for your prompt responses and links. I am generally sceptical of these ads which is why I came along here. Your timely advice kills off Scanguard for me.
