I had an email from Giffgaff asking how I wanted my compensation for the outage to be paid.
I had a choice of some kind of remuneration; or I could donate it to charity.

.... well ..... I chose the latter and I've just received an update from Giffgaff:

///// Hi James,

Thank you for your choice last week on how you would like to receive a share of the goodwill fund.

The size of the goodwill fund is £1,000,000.

Over a million of our members made a choice.

Your choice: Charity

The total amount for charity donation chosen by members, like you, is a wonderfully generous donation of £387,039. Thank you.

The charity that will receive this is Crisis, a charity working hard to support people who are homeless. At this time of year, it can be very dangerous to live and sleep on the street alone, and with your donation it means that more people will be able to access companionship and essential services over Christmas at Crisis' centres across the country. //////

Nearly £400k ..... niiiiiiice :)

I got the same choice from Gifgaf but they didn't specify which charity they were donating to at the time, so I chose to have the money myself and donate it directly to something I support instead. If I'd known it was Crisis I'd have happily let them have it but I wasn't happy for it to go to some charities. Awesome amount though, and I'll add £5 to my shelter...

That's great
That's very cheering, well done all who chose to donate.
Very generous. Have had nothing from O2, although to be fair I suffered no financial loss, merely frustration.
Nicely done by all concerned :-)
Impressed with that.
I didn't get that???

I just got a text from them saying I'd get 2 days credit on my next monthly bill.

PS
I'd have gone for the 'goodwill fund'
lol, give your phone to a homeless person for two days...

[and merry Christmas, B00]
I noticed today i got £7 free airtime thx giffgaff

Same here. Just frustrating not to be able to access the internet, but it didn't cost me anything financially.
Same as Boo, as an O2 customer, I am offered 2days credit on my next bill, which is worth about tuppence.
