MrG always used a briefcase until I was dropping him off at the station....
He put it down behind a taxi as he came to kiss me goodbye and the taxi reversed over it.... :-)

I use a wheeled bag. Normally I have a couple of ring binders, an Ipad, some fancy dress etc. I cant physically carry anything too far anyway.
