On his programme tonight he said he was born in Folkestone and only moved to Italy when he was eleven. Doesn't this make him English and not Italian. Also why has he an Italian accent?

Maybe his parents were Italian. I was born in Paddington but consider myself Irish.
Torre Del Greco, Naples 1976.

He actually said he was born in a restaurant which is now some garages in I think East Street. Why would he say this if it isn't true.

Wiki says

,Born Gennaro D'Acampo July 1976 (age 42)

Torre del Greco, Naples, Italy[1]

Residence Elstree, Hertfordshire, England

Occupation Celebrity chef, television personality.

I give up!!
WE didn't see it (well I didn't), I have no idea why he would say that if it were not true - can't even think of a reason either.

Like his middle name too - Gennaro "Gino" Sheffield D'Acampo
Wasn't shouting up there, caught the caps lock.
He's also a convicted crook - surprised me when I found out, he seemed very amenable but a bit like an over-excited puppy.
burgled Paul Young, didn't he?
Yeah he did.
well, aim high, I always say.
Wikipedia is not to be trusted
That's a fair point, however can anyone find a bio of him with the details Caran has outlined.
His official website says, "Gino was born into a large family in Torre del Greco, Napoli, in the south of Italy."
The "Sheffield" was added by deed poll after one of the challenges on Celebrity Juice in 2015.
I didn't read much more than Caran was asking, ta.
