I love writing and I have written a few songs because I also love music. I have also started writing a story which I think could be made into a novel. I would like to promote my writing. Any ideas on how I could do it?

Write it, leave it alone, go back to it, read it, edit it, add to it, take away from it, leave it alone, go back to it, do all that again, several times. Give it someone well read to read and ask them their opinion on what's wrong with it, then format properly and submit it, or self publish. This tell you how to format it properly.
