I need suggestions for a meal for this evening. We're having fish but that's as far as I've got. It needs to be something relatively light and straight-forward to cook, as I don't want to spend hours in the kitchen (and ideally with seasonal ingredients). I have looked at a couple of sites but I need some inspiration. Thanks!

what about some different types of smoked fish, salmon, trout, mackerel and (not smoked i kno) tiger prawns and have a smoked fish platter with big bowl of salad and some lovely fresh bread. i know sainsburys do a selection of smoked fish for about a fiver.
Cook some peas with a sprig of mint. Drain, crush and fill a metal cooking ring. Lift off the ring and the pea mash stays as a disc.

Pan fry a good quality piece of hake, skin down for 3 mins. Turn out heat, turn over fish in pan.

Prepare a fresh seasonal salad with a honey and mustard dressing with 2 drops of sesame seed oil as a background flavour.

Put the fish on the pea mash. Salad to one side. Dress, pour drinks. Eat with a fresh crusty bread, or do some couscous with cayenne and finely diced cooked mushroom and shallots through it

Or: Boil water. Cook black squid ink pasta for 4 mins. Drain.

Gridlle scallops with the roe on, for 2 mins one side, 1 min the other.

Lift out pasta, dress with oilve oil and some freshly diced red chilli - no seeds. Make up plate - black pasta is a long one like spag. or linguine. Use a two prong fork to lift it from the pan and twist the fork to make a 'nest'. Put on plate, with cooked scallops round, and have with a side salad with lemon dressing.

Ended up going to the pub so didn't actually make anything. However, all of your suggestions are appreciated and I think that I'll definitely try to make nickmo's balck pasta - am a massive fan of scallops.

Thanks.
For the really lazy - just grill the fish and present it with guacamole, salsa or a warm tomato vinaigrette.
