Care/nursing Home Funding.
8 Answers
My 95 y.o. Mum has just moved into a Care Home in the nursing part. She is self funded at the moment, but it was mentioned that she could get some kind of funding for the nursing bit. This is all new to me and I wondered how we could find out if she is entitled to any such funding.
Please help if you can.

It's a bit more (not much) if she is incontinent too

My mum spent many years in a nursing home and for the last few of those was incontinent, bedridden, virtually blind and deaf and had some dementia. The manager at the home was desperate to get the extra funding and my sister and I attended meetings over several years with social services filling in copious forms to no avail. It appeared to us that the only way mum would get the funding would be if she was a danger to the staff or herself, her health didn't appear to come into it. I do hope you have more luck with your mother.
also roo it sounds like you are talking about continuing healthcare (CHC) - where the entire fee is paid by the NHS. You are right that behaviour (especially sexualised/disinhibited or violent is one of the main reasons people are granted CHC in my experience of working on a chc team) the other is skin problems (ie ulcers that dont heal or very complicated dressings). In my experience almost all people in a nursing home were entitled to the funded nursing care
